Preliminary Title sequence Analysis 1

The credits are in Sans Serif which makes us realise the film is quite new/modern. When you watch the film or the opening this is hard to believe as our culture has changed so dramatically and the way our society works. The houses have a lot of graffiti on them and the area looks pretty rough. We see the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles which brings a very important part of our history into it. We also see bombings and crashes which illustrate what was happening in England at the time. Margaret Thatcher, the prime minister at the time is also shown in the filming, she is an important part of the film as it was her who the people were rebelling against in the film. There was a lot of violence and rebellious behaviour throughout the opening sequence, but although the men and women are doing this they still hold up flags for their country and have the countries beat interests at heart. They also show footage of soldiers marching holding an England flag. These are all archives put together to create a good image of who England was in the 80's, although it is not all exactly good. But it is correct and gives a huge insight as to have times have changed.
